Sorry for the late notice, but I’m in an art show, Origin Stories: Comics & Identity, part of this year’s 56th annual Lake Oswego Festival of The Arts. Appropriately enough for the origins theme, my contribution is five pages from LIFE OF THE PARTY, a 24 Hour Comic I drew about my father. I’m also giving a free talk about 24 Hour Comics generally this Sunday at noon at Lakewood Center of the Arts, 368 S State St, Lake Oswego, OR 97034. It would be so nice to see you there!

Here is the second of a series giving background on the stories in my second collection of 24 hour comics, SLEEPLESS, published by Dark Horse last month. This one is about the title story, which I drew in 2007.

I just got a preview copy of SLEEPLESS, my second 24 Hour Comics collection from Dark Horse, in the mail yesterday. The book itself drops on April 5th, 2016 (not, as I previously reported, in February). It includes six stories:

It’s my birthday, and the best present I can imagine is if you skip right on over to my Patreon page and check out the latest comics offering (and if you like what you see, feel free to $how your $upport). Since this is the second Thursday of the month, it’s a story from the archives, YARD SALE.

Big news for fans of my 24 hour comics (in case you don’t already know, I am the World Record Holder in meeting the challenge devised by Scott McCloud, to produce an entire 24 page comic book in a single day– I have done 16 of these one-day epics so far). Plans are in the works for a second collection, titled SLEEPLESS AND OTHER STORIES: DAVID CHELSEA’S 24-HOUR COMICS, VOL. 2, to be published next year by Dark Horse (the first Dark Horse collection, EVERYBODY GETS IT WRONG! AND OTHER STORIES: DAVID CHELSEA’S 24-HOUR COMICS, VOL. 1, came out in 2013).

I’ll have more to say about my time at Wizard World Chicago soon, but for now, here’s an interview recorded at the Con by cartoonist and Minneapolis Media Institute instructor Patric Lewandowski. The interview mostly deals with perspective and my two books on the subject, but it also touches on 24 Hour Comics and some of my recent projects like SNOW ANGEL.

Just in case you missed hearing it live, the good folks at KBOO-FM have kindly archived Monday Sampler host Fortunato’s interview with me and my daughter Rebecca from last Monday (the segment with us begins at the 58:00 mark). There was chat about my new book, Everybody Gets it Wrong! : David Chelsea’s 24-Hour Comics Volume 1., as well as strange and exotic A Capella records from my collection, interspersed with charming live performances from the group Boy & Bean. The long wait is over! Today is the day you can walk into your local comics shop and buy my new collection, Everybody Gets It Wrong! And Other Stories: David Chelsea’s 24-Hour Comics #1 , published by the fine folks at Dark Horse. In the unlikely event that your local comics seller doesn’t carry the book, you can take your business online through Things From Another World or Amazon.com.
