I’ve been continuing to post two pages a week from my revamped version of WELCOME TO THE ZONE on Patreon. I’m now up to part 15, including this particularly grisly death scene:

Distressing news today- actor and singer David Cassidy, best known for the 1970s TV series The Partridge Family, has died at 67.

I learned the other day of the death at 94 of Liz Smith, the gossip columnist who had been a long-running fixture of the New York media scene. Back during the 90s and Aughts when I was illustrating the New York Observer’s calendar page The Eight Day Week, Liz was such a frequent subject that she had her own folder in my clippings file:

This week I posted my 100th End Strip on Patreon (actually, 102nd- I mistakenly gave a couple of strips the same numbers). End Strips are short comics drawn in a vertical format on random strips of paper, usually ones trimmed from larger sheets by my daughter Rebecca for some school project or another. These have tended to fall into a few main groups: drawings of celebrities from my various clippings folders:

This week I put up two more pages of my continuing webcomic ARE YOU BEING WATCHED? on Patreon. These continue the storyboard sequence showing the history of the 24 Hour Comic, including my own part as the cartoonist holding the World’s Record for 24 Hour Comics– 17 so far:

While I have not been blogging about it every week, I have been plugging away at ARE YOU BEING WATCHED?, my webcomic about Reality TV, posting two pages most weeks on Patreon. In the most recent installment, we are into Hour Six of the 24 Hour Comic session which is being taped for a Reality TV program hosted by David Chelsea, famous cartoonist. David is being shown storyboards for a proposed animated opening to the program, which would tell the story of the invention of the 24 Hour Comic by Scott McCloud, inspired by his friend Steve Bissette:

This week I posted my 70th End Strip on Patreon. End Strips are short comics drawn in a vertical format on random strips of paper, usually ones trimmed from larger sheets by my daughter Rebecca for some school project or another. These have tended to fall into a few main groups: drawings of celebrities from my various clippings folders, short strips featuring my characters Sandy & Mandy, drawings of Facebook friends who share the same first name, rhyming song lyrics that happen to have an anapest meter, and clerihews- short comic poems about famous people with my caricature illustrations.

Yesterday, another of my old Modern Love column illustrations for the New York Times appeared with a podcast reading of the essay it originally illustrated. On this week’s podcast, the actor John Cho reads “Men Don’t Care About Weddings? Groomzilla Is Hurt,” about a groom who, in the process of planning his wedding, becomes a person he doesn’t recognize.
