Cartoonists On Radio 8

I’ll be dropping by Matt Clark’s show The Monday Sampler on KBOO-FM again this Monday, June 17th between 2 and 4pm PDT. I’ll be discussing my new book Everybody Gets It Wrong! And Other Stories: David Chelsea’s 24-Hour Comics #1, published by the fine folks at Dark Horse. and I’ll spin some records from my collection, many on the original vinyl. This time I’ll concentrate on weird and strange acapella recordings from the 1930s up to whenever, including songs by Tete Noires, The Modern Barbershop Quartet, The Songbirds Of The South, and Zap Mama, and as many more as there is time for.

Cartoonists On Radio 7

Since we had so much fun last time, I’ll be dropping by Matt Clark’s show The Monday Sampler on KBOO-FM again this Monday, March 21st between 2 and 4pm PDT. I’ll be discussing my comics projects a bit, but mostly I’ll be there to spin some records from my collection, postwar jazz vocal groups of the LP era (roughly 1950-1985) among them such groups as The Metronomes, The Invitations, The Anita Kerr Quartet and Rex Middleton’s Hi-Fi’s, many on the original vinyl. The show will also include a live performance by the band Sexy Water Spiders, and a possible phone appearance by folk legend Michelle Shocked.

I’ll be dropping by Matt Clark’s show The Monday Sampler on KBOO-FM this Monday, March 7th between 3 and 4pm PST to discuss my new book Extreme Perspective! For Artists: Learn the Secrets of Curvilinear, Cylindrical, Fisheye, Isometric, and Other Amazing Systems that Will Make Your Drawings Pop Off the Page, and also to spin some records from my collection. I’ll be featuring postwar jazz vocal groups of the LP era (roughly 1950-1985) and the selections will likely include but possibly not be confined to such groups as The Metronomes, The Invitations, Lambert Hendricks and Bavan and The Suntones, many on the original vinyl.

Cartoonists On Radio 4

It’s been quite a while since my last radio appearance, but tomorrow I pay a visit to Matt Clark, who is sitting in for the regular host of the Noontime Jamboree on KBOO-FM at noon. I’ll be dropping by around one PM Portland time to play some of the kind of music I like to listen to while working- mostly 1920s and early 1930s dance bands and singers.
